Photo Trip #17: Fog

Keeping with winter photos, the three I’ve attached introduce another element in photography - fog.

Actually, I sent “fog” pics earlier, once in the black & white beach chairs in Sarasota and again yesterday in the shot of the gazebo. Fog does three great things for a photograph. It hides unwanted objects, softens the scene, and best of all, helps greatly to emphasize the main subject. It also combines the elements of a b&w photo with a color photo.

The first shot (Conway, NH) was of a farm house that stretched horizontally. So, I used a panoramic format. I liked the soft reflection in the large puddle. The second shot (Jackson, NH) clearly pulls your eye to the small shack - no distracting elements to interfere. The third shot (also Jackson, NH) was taken about 50 yards away from the second. It, too, clearly emphasizes the subject. I like the hint of a mountain in the background.

Stay well,

D.T.
