Photo Trip #18: Lavender Fields Forever
Award-Winning: Girl in Lavender
I decided to go back to Spring.
The first photo was taken at the Lavender Field in East Marion on the North Fork of Long Island. It’s a wonderful place to visit in early summer. The flowers are spectacular. The young girl had a basket in hand and was wandering through the field. I tried to make the background very soft so she would stand out. I entered this into a photography exhibit at the L.I. Art League. It was accepted into the exhibit but did not place - however, I did get a hearty handshake from the curator.
The second photo, a lily, was taken locally. For shooting flowers, I suggest you take them in a protected area out of the sunlight. Often the background is distracting, so I carry a large piece of black matte board to put behind the flower. A tripod, while not always handy, will help greatly.
Stop to smell the flowers,
